Today began with Chapter 17 of the Hatchet. Brian is trying to get to the plane that had resurfaced after a tornado that had gone through. Brian thinks that there i.s a survival kit inside the plane and really wants to get to it.
We then went on to GRAMMAR THURSDAY! This is a new feature in our class. Today's lesson was on doubling the consonants when adding a suffix (with a focus on -ed and -ing. Tell me what the rule is and I'll hand out a prize. ajwagner@scdsb.on.ca.
The end of the Language period was focussed on writing.
Third period was Social Studies. We have begun a new unit in Social Studies about the responsibilities of the government and the responsibilities of the citizens of Canada. We did this with a focus on our own school. The kids tried to decide on who is responsible for the running of a school. We will compare this to the running of a country too.
Fourth period was French.
Fifth was in the library with Mr. Heidman. He read to us about kindness and got us to tell the overt and implied messages. The kids are getting really good at this.
Last period was dedicated to math. We are going to wrap up our work with money and will have a a little quiz on Tuesday.
