Today began again with French and Ms. Lippert and the kids are doing a brochure on themselves. (I do believe).
During 2nd period we learned about Accountable Talk. This is a timed group talk in which the children discuss text that they have read or watched. They have many key prompts that they can use during this time and they are displayed clearly in the classroom. Small group discussions are very key during the year and this is a skill that is important for the kids to learn so they have success during group work. We will practice this more tomorrow. The article and topic that we discussed was the Marshmallow Test.
Here is the video that went along with the article.Marshmallow Test.
During 3rd period the kids had the opportunity to write their Terry Fox stories. They are coming along nicely. Don't forget your punctuation and capitalization!!!
Fourth period was the much anticipated rocket blast. Unfortunately we only had two successful launches!! The most beautiful rocket had to be, with out a doubt, Lauren and Lauren's! What a work of art! Hopefully there will be a picture to follow!
During fifth we had Mr. Heidman in the library and we talked about overt and inferred messages. We demonstrated our understanding of this very well. Sixth was shortened, but we did do a little more work on adding using regrouping.
Have a nice evening!
