Before I begin, please remember to return your Scientists in the School $6. This will take place on Thursday.
If you have misplaced the note, it is on the blog here. Print it off and send it in tomorrow.
What a wonderful day to celebrate our reading goals today. In total the school read for about 3200 hrs. Unbelievable! Mayor Lehman opened today's celebration with a great book and then we did some excellent things throughout the day.
The grade fives learned about Craig Kielburger who started Free the Children. We then read a story that was written about his brother's experience in Thailand. Every year there is a WE DAY in Toronto to help kids learn how they can help in the world. It is awesome. They also have a We Day Flash Mob and the kids learned it.
Here it is:
WE DAY DANCE LINK
We're hoping to do this in assemblies instead of the FOLLOW THE LEADER.
We met with some reading buddies for the afternoon, but in the middle two blocks of the day we were read to by some celebrities. Mr. Cap and Mrs. Torrie read "THE SWEATER", Mrs. Gray read a Scaredy Squirrel book, and Jamie and Tara from Chay 93.1 read to us too!
It was FANTASTIC!
Ms. Bottrell is the one to thank for all of this! Make sure you give her a HIGH FIVE the next time that you see her.
